For years, travellers have been asking us about the best Christmas markets in the city, what to try, what traditio ns matter the most, and how locals actually celebrate the holidays. So this year, we decided to finally bring all of that together into one warm, cozy, and delicious seasonal experience.
⭐ Why We Introduced This Tour
Every winter, Prague transforms into a postcard. Wooden stalls light up the squares, the smell of mulled wine fills the air, and Czech holiday traditions suddenly come alive around every corner. And yet, many visitors still end up wandering the markets without really knowing what they’re looking at — or what they should absolutely taste!
We wanted to create a tour that:
Helps travellers experience Christmas in Prague like locals, not just as observers
Shows the difference between the popular markets and the truly authentic ones
Explains the traditions, dishes, customs, and symbols you see everywhere in December
Makes the festive season easier, more fun, and much more delicious
Our goal was simple: a relaxed, joyful tour full of smells, flavors, stories, and Christmas spirit — without heavy history, without rushing, and without the stress of navigating the crowds alone.
And so, the Prague Christmas Market Free Tour was born.
🎄 What You Can Expect
This tour lasts 120 minutes and takes you through three of Prague’s most beautiful Christmas markets:
1. Old Town Square Christmas Market
The famous jewel of Prague’s festive season — the biggest, brightest, and most photographed market in the city. We show you what’s truly worth tasting and which stalls locals actually love.
2. Wenceslas Square Market
A lively place full of color, food, music, and seasonal treats. Perfect for comparing the “modern Prague market vibe” to the traditional Old Town atmosphere.
3. Náměstí Míru Christmas Market
A favourite among locals. Cosy, charming, and far less touristy.
We reach it with a 5-minute metro ride, and it’s worth every second — this market captures exactly what Prague residents love about the holiday season.
Along the way, we talk about:
Czech Christmas traditions (some surprising, some funny!)
The meaning behind local decorations and customs
Seasonal snacks you shouldn’t miss
Handcrafted products worth buying as gifts
How locals actually celebrate Christmas at home
Each market includes about 20 minutes of free time to try mulled wine, taste something sweet, or simply enjoy the atmosphere.
