Discover a quieter and more mysterious side of Prague on a special evening walk through Hradčany, Nový Svět and Upper Malá Strana.
As the crowds disappear and the streets grow quieter, we'll explore atmospheric neighbourhoods around Prague Castle that many visitors never discover. Along the way, you'll hear stories of astronomers, alchemists, mysterious legends and eccentric characters from Prague's extraordinary past.
Our journey takes us into the world of Emperor Rudolf II, when Prague attracted brilliant scientists, astrologers, adventurers and seekers of mysterious knowledge. We'll meet figures such as Tycho Brahe and Johannes Kepler and discover a time when the boundaries between science, astronomy, astrology and magic were not always as clear as they are today.
We'll pass through the historic surroundings of Strahov and Loreto before disappearing into Nový Svět – the "New World" – one of the most picturesque and atmospheric corners of Prague.
From there, we'll continue through Hradčany and descend into the narrow streets of Upper Malá Strana, uncovering unusual stories and legends along the way.
And for our final stop, we'll meet one of the most mysterious characters of Rudolfine Prague – the notorious English alchemist Edward Kelley.
Was he a brilliant alchemist searching for the secrets of nature, a magician communicating with spirits – or simply an extraordinarily convincing fraud?
Join us after dark and decide for yourself.
